HEMA CC Foundation Review + Wear Test

by - 1.11.17

HAPPY NOVEMBER! Can you believe it's on one month till we hit snow, Christmas and holidays!

HEMA is a European brand, kind of like Flying Tiger. They have everything from home decor to stationery to beauty and skincare. I haven't heard anyone talk about their makeup range, or even test anything from there. When I looked online, they have quite an extensive range of various makeup products with surprisingly large selection of shades. I loved the way they displayed their makeup in store as well. It's really easy to find what you're looking for. I'm also going to be adding in a wear test section to my reviews (whenever possible) because I think it helps you understand the longevity of the product.

THE PACKAGING

What's so cool about this foundation, is that the packaging is an airless pump bottle. This means that there is a plate at the bottom that rises as you use up the product, so that none/very little of the foundation will be wasted. This foundation is their most expensive base product at 12 Euros, however it is also the most sophisticated in my opinion. You get 30ml of product.

THE CLAIMS

The CC foundation offers average to high coverage and SPF15 protection. This foundation strengthens and smooths your skin for a fresh, energetic look."

-Firming
-Flawless Finish
-Medium to High Coverage
-SPF 15

THE PRODUCT

This has quickly become my go-to base product for everyday wear. I love how it has slightly more coverage than a BB Cream but less than a proper foundation. Of course, you can tell that you're wearing makeup but it looks really natural, kind of the 'my skin but better' look. I wouldn't say that this is high coverage. You don't need a lot of product to cover your face. I haven't noticed any particularly strong scent so don't worry if you're sensitive to that. Consistency-wise, it's a standard consistency; not too thick, not too thin.

I don't feel the need to use concealer on top of this, but sometimes I do use a bit of orange colour-corrector to cancel out some of the redness on my skin, before applying the foundation. Normally I apply 1-1.5 pumps with my large oval brush from Primark. The foundation glides over the face and blends out seamlessly and evenly over the skin. It's really easy and quick to use so don't worry about having to spend lots of time blending it out in the morning.

The shade range is what makes me the happiest. They have 9 shades which is FAR greater than many other drugstore brands. The lightest shade is very pale and the darkest one should complement the deeper skin tones. For reference, I use Shade 7.

WEAR TEST

I have really oily skin, especially in my T-Zone area. So the days I wore it when I walked to school, my face was looking a bit shiny when I got to school but it wasn't anything some blotting paper couldn't fix. By the time I got home, the majority of my makeup was still on my face and yes, I did look oily but that happens with all of my makeup. I blotted about 2 at most which is great! The days where I got dropped off at school, my face looked great until about lunchtime when I had to blot and also towards the end of the day. Overall, great wear time and I would recommend for oily skin gals out there.

OVERALL

I'm in love! I think this is a great product and I 100% would recommend. I really want to try more things from HEMA in the future because I think they're such an underrated brand. They have a HUUUUGE range of nailpolishes as well as eyeshadows, lipsticks, brushes, setting powders, etc.

  1. I tried a few of their brushes, eye products and I remember picking up a concealer at some point, which I absolutely hated. It has put me off buying any of their base products. But I'm glad you're getting on with this one!

    1. I have a powder brush from them and it's literally the softest thing ever! I haven't tried much from them, but I do know that they've recently re-vamped their range. It sucks that the concealer didn't work for you! :( I'm currently trying out a concealer palette and I like it so far. I'll definitely try out more and update you xx Nikita
